Now
No one can lose a child and not be changed. I definitely feel Clara’s death has forever changed me and in a good way. My marriage has become so strong. Together our faith has become stronger as well. I have found healing in helping other women who have lost a child. Their stories and journeys inspire me to grow and connect and love each of them.
Leaving South Dakota was definitely bittersweet. It is great to start a new chapter but hard to leave behind Clara’s grave, tree, and rose bush. To know that someone came and took a branch off Clara’s tree to try to grow roots so we can take a part of it with us is amazing. I really hope it works out. Our plan is to leave a little remembrance of Clara everywhere we go. So whether the tree works or not, we will keep leaving pink flowering crab apple trees along our way.
Today, as I celebrate my 6th wedding anniversary, I feel joyful and thankful. I am still a work in progress but I have the best man beside me and a Father above me leading the way.
